The Corps of Engineers has conducted its first public hearing on the Environmental Impact Statement proposing building two dams on tributaries to the Pascagoula River. Their "excuse" is drought control, but the lakes are actually a real estate scheme. One of these dams will destroy one of the coolest spots in the river, at the mouth of Big Creek, where many fish congregate in the hottest times.
