Mississippi has untapped potential to create a strong solar energy economy – one that will create high quality paying jobs, reduce utility costs for consumers, and provide energy independence for Mississippians. The recent passage of a landmark Net Metering Rule by the Mississippi Public Service Commission has set the stage for achieving our state's potential for solar energy.Net metering incentivizes homeowners, businesses and equipment leasers to install rooftop solar and send their excess solar-generated electricity back to the electric grid. In other words, customers like you and me will not only save on our own electric bill but can also become energy suppliers and receive credit for the clean power we create.
