BP TRIAL TO RESUME THIS MONTH
brw4.jpgOn January 20, the third and final phase of the BP drilling disaster trial is set to resume in a federal courthouse in New Orleans. The outcome of this trial will ultimately determine how much BP and the other parties involved in the disaster will pay in fines under the Clean Water Act. Billions of dollars, many of which would be used for restoring the Gulf, are at stake. Read more about the trial by the numbers here, and click here to tell BP to stop stalling and come clean!
NEWS FROM OUR FRIENDS AT GRN
A BIG YEAR IN MISSISSIPPI BIRDWATCHING
We recently told you about the unveiling of electronic kiosks that highlight the Mississippi Coast Birding Trail for visitors to the state’s welcome centers along I-10. These kiosks are just one reason that Mississippi’s coastal counties are well-positioned to take off in the birding economy in 2015. Audubon Mississippi will open its Education Center at Moss Point in the summer, and the nature tourism industry is well situated for success due to the density of attractions along the coast. Birders don’t just spend money on binoculars—a birding boon stands to benefit local hotels, art galleries and boating as well.
