LAND CONSERVATION RESOURCE SUMMIT: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH

Land Conservation Resource Summit - Location: Ocean Springs Civic Center, Ocean Springs, MS, on February 24th, from 6:00pm CT - 8:00pm CT
This resource summit will give the public an opportunity to have a conversation regarding land conservation, which is one of the three priority resources identified by the public during the community conversations. Participants will also receive more information about the Mississippi Comprehensive Ecosystem Restoration Tool (MCERT) and how it will be utilized in the restoration process. LAMAR COUNTY--GRAVEL PIT MAY ENDANGER PASCAGOULA RIVER WATERSHED; PLANNING COMMISSION FEB. 10, 2015

Dear resident,
I wanted to be sure you were aware of a request for zoning change that would allow a gravel pit in Lamar county on a stream that is a tributary to the Pascacoula River. The area is currently zoned as residential. After the last public hearing at the courthouse in Purvis, MS, the Lamar county planning commission tabled it for consideration at their February 10 meeting at 2:30. On February 19, at 9 AM the Board of Supervisors will vote and make the final decision regarding the issue.

NAACP TO HONOR SIERRA CLUB'S LOUIE MILLER AND ROBERT WIYGUL ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD

The Gulfport Branch NAACP will be honoring the Sierra Club and Robert Wiygul at its 2014 Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi at 6:00pm. This year's program theme is "All in for Justice and Equality", and the organization's incoming National President and CEO, Cornell William Brooks, will be the special guest speaker. He will be presenting Distinguished Justice service awards to attorney Robert Wiygul and Louie Miller for their outstanding environmental justice advocacy. The NAACP has strategically engaged environmental and climate justice as one of its core civil rights issues
