The Mississippi Public Service Commission issued a Request for Proposals (RFP),
seeking an independent contractor to conduct a study on the actual benefits of distributed generation in Mississippi. This study is required of Mississippi per the Mississippi Renewable Energy Net Metering Rule. Studies of this nature have been conducted across the nation with varying levels of net benefits and costs concluded to occur. The proposal due date is May 25. The contract will be awarded on June 5. The project period will be from July 2018 to December 3, 2018. Funding for the study will be collected from the utilities.

The One Lake project, is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This project has been proposed in various forms for over 20 years, and is a plan to dredge, widen, dam and develop the Pearl River in and around Jackson, MS. The One River, No Lake Coalition, which includes the Gulf Restoration Network,, Jackson Audubon Society, Mississippi Wildlife Federation, Pearl Riverkeeper and Sierra Club Mississippi, came together on April 24th to hold a public forum on the project.

Entergy Corporation, Mississippi's largest electric utility monopoly has "hijacked" the Mississippi Public Service Commission's reauthorization bill (HB 882). Language has been inserted that blocks Attorney General Jim Hood from filing suit against any electric utility in order to hold them accountable for civil or criminal acts that harm electric utility ratepayers like you and me!
