REPORT FROM THE FAKE LAKES MEETING: STEVE SHEPARD

Gulf Coast Chair Steve Shephard was at the Fake Lakes meeting in Lucedale last night. Here are his thoughts and impressions.

I want to thank everyone who attended the meeting last night and thank those who wanted to go but were unable due to last minute "emergencies" or conflicts that couldn't be avoided. I am grateful to the Singing River Hospital Retirees for coming because their presence proved this isn't a bunch of tree huggers standing up against George County.

NKRUMAH FRAZIER: A PASSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

NOVEMBER 27TH, 2016
SPECIAL FROM THE CLARION LEDGER
Hattiesburg resident Nkrumah Frazier is a perfect example of what one can accomplish while following a passion. In Frazier's case, his love of nature, wildlife and community has led to not only a career in that field, but work with environmental organizations at home and around the country as well. The seeds of that passion were planted when he was a child, growing up on a family farm outside Soso in Jones County.

SIERRA CLUB CONVENES SOLAR POWER ENERGY FORUM

The Mississippi Sierra Club recently convened a successful solar energy forum in Biloxi to educate the public on developments in solar energy in the state. The recent passage of a landmark Net Metering Rule by the Mississippi Public Service Commission has set the stage for achieving the state's potential for solar energy, which is substantial. That potential is untapped, and could create a strong solar energy economy – one that will create high quality paying jobs, reduce utility costs for consumers, and provide energy independence for Mississippians.
